I made it back to upstate NY to see my family (first visit since moving back to the US) for Christmas. It was great to see family and relatives and I was lucky enough to have a traditional white Christmas…lots of snow…and lots of cold!
I was away from the trailer for two weeks that enabled me to focus on planning a loose itinerary for the next few months. I’m planning to visit Arizona in February…there are a couple of events I’ll be attending and then some exploring.
I was fortunate enough to sit next to a woman on my flight out of Chicago to Rochester who had an interesting life story and turns out now, will contribute to mine. When she heard about my plans, she told me about a hike she’d done in the Grand Canyon to Phantom Ranch (at the bottom of the canyon). I hadn’t planned to head that far north in Arizona this time around but she got me excited about the idea of hiking there. That’s all it took…I was able to reserve the last two nights available in March in the men’s dorm at Phantom Ranch…so that’s where I’ll be…very excited.
Things happen for a reason…
